Hello! AOM is my all time favorite game and I have been playing since back in 2003. I have recently upgraded from windows 8.1 to windows 10 and have since not been able to run AOM. I have tried the following:
-compatibility mode
-uninstalling the game (both AOM and Titans expansion) and reinstalling both
When I click on the game to launch it, it sounds like the game is trying to load as I hear the CD spinning for a second or two but then it stops and nothing happens.

Can anyone ELI5 how to do this?
I'll give reddit gold to whoever helps me get the game to run as I truly love the game and it is killing me not being able to play.
So I just switched to the Win 10 thing today and saw that the original aom game doesn't seem to launch at all due to the secdrv.sys being blocked.
So I saw a post somewhere on here that I had to get a no-cd fix from this site but I wasn't sure what version I had, since I have the gold edition of aom bought back in 2004.
So my question is, is that site even reliable at all and if so, what should I do to get a no-cd fix for aom gold edition (dunno what version I have, tbh)? If it's not possible, is the extended edition on steam worth it, as a substitute?
EDIT: Holy crap!! I actually managed to get this to work in Win 10. :o The GameCopyWorld seems to actually be alright. This guy recommended it and no viruses or anything of the sort is detected.

As soon as you get the file (based on what version you have), put the file under C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft GamesAge of Mythology, and then right click -> create shortcut -> right click on the shortcut and add this to the target: xres=640 yres=480 so that in the end, it looks like this: 'C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesAge of Mythologyaomx.exe' xres=640 yres=480. Credit goes to Mirez for that one. :P
Then all you do is just click and play. :o
